1Ra7.04213 1999Reiner Kniziaalea & Überplay & 999 Games & Rio Grande GamesNice little auction game. The strategy of the game eludes me at the moment, I know I need to work on valuing the tiles more consistently, but I enjoy it. Perhaps when I understand it it will get better. Time shall tell.

4Princes of Florence, The9.029  2000Richard Ulrich & Wolfgang Krameralea & White Goblin Games & Excalibur & Pro Ludo & Lacerta & Quined White Goblin Games (QWG) & Ystari Games & Rio Grande Games & NexusThis game has been recomended to me by no less than three sources (BGG Reccomendations, Friendless Reccomendations & Friendless Crazy Recomendations) so I thought that I might as well add it to an order for free shiping. I really enjoyed this game, apparently the analysis hasn't gotten my preference wrong. The game is quite deep, requiring a lot of forward planning to pull off a strategy. We played with 3 players, which seems to be unloved by the BGG community, and I think I can see why, the additional chaos that would ensue from the additional players would add much more tension to the game and competition to the auctions.

6Traders of Genoa, The9.0478  2001Rüdiger DornFilosofia Editions & alea & Lacerta & Rio Grande GamesMagnificent game. With nearly no downtime, loads of critical decisions, in both tactical and strateigic planning, full-scale negotiation trough which nearly any game resouce can be traded and an intriguing action allowance system; The Traders of Genoa is likely to keep hitting the table for the forseeable future. This game is on my 'To Review List'. Watch this space.
7Puerto Rico6.0112  2002Andreas SeyfarthDevir & alea & Lautapelit.fi & Tilsit & Albi & Lacerta & MINDOK & Stratelibri & Rio Grande Games & RavensburgerI can understand why this was rated number 1 for so long. While it is not my personal favorite, it is a fantastic game. I can't see this game getting old very quickly, if it ever gets old at all. The game is easy to learn, but the strategy is complex. Understanding how your actions will benifit other players is an important part of the game and takes a little while to come to grips with.

11Notre Dame8.03482 2007Stefan FeldFilosofia Editions & alea & Rio Grande GamesA very enjoyable non-contested-area-influence game with a great deal of risk management and crisis mangaement. The game takes a little while to explain but it is very deep game. Due to the fact that the area influence is non-contested there is very little player interaction except the initial card drafting before each turn. I expect this game to hit the table time and time again.
12In the Year of the Dragon8.0562  2007Stefan FeldFilosofia Editions & alea & Rio Grande GamesMagnificent game. The tension in the game runs from front to back, you always need just a little more than you have and the consequences of not having those things can be dire. Perhaps not knowing exactly what Murphy will throw at you would make the game even better. This game is on my 'To Review List'. Watch this space.

More randomness than later Euros, but absolutley awesome. That it has had such appeal for so many people for so long is a testament to this brilliant game. 4Settlers of Catan, The - 5-6 Player Expansion7.04-1  1996Klaus TeuberFilosofia Editions & Ísöld ehf. & dan-spil & Mayfair Games & Kosmos (Franckh-Kosmos) & 999 GamesRemoves the only disadvantage to Settlers, its inability to play more than 4 people. It includes a couple of minor rule changes to balance a game of that size, as well as tiles to increase the size of the map so that the game is not so claustrophobic. But it's main appeal is making the basic game a little bit more versitile for a larger group. However, the game oten drags a little with 5 and especially with 6 players. The new building rules drop the downtime to reasonable levels, but the game simply takes too long for the amount of fun it offers, Settlers simply wasn't made to take 2 hours.

20Settlers of Catan - Event Cards8.012-1  2005Klaus TeuberCatan GmbH & Mayfair Games & Kosmos (Franckh-Kosmos)Reduces the ammount of randomness in Settlers, forcing each game to more closly resemble the probability 'Bell Curve'. Also includes a number of extra events that add a bit more spice (and a levelling factor) to an already brilliant game. I actually prefer to play Settlers with the cards rather than the dice. See my review for my full thoughts.

2Memoir '448.02238  2004Richard BorgDays of Wonder & Edge EntertainmentA good game that scratches a different itch than the other wargames I own/play. M'44 is nice in that is it short and simple, while still allowing good decision making. Luck is a fairly major factor, but not overwhelming.
