This seems like a game for those people who like playing one game a lot and trying to grasp the little nuances of that game. It is not a game for people who pull out a particular game and play it occasionally. With the exception of some new games which get played a lot when they first come out, I tend not to play the same game over and over. I believe you do have to play this game that way to properly learn how to play it even slightly well. I know people who play it regularly and really enjoy it and I will not be playing it with them since I know going in that I wouldn’t even be competitive since I really don’t care a lot about Puerto Rico or its strategies and there are lots of other deep games which will allow most players to be competitive.
